Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has recorded a new daily peak in electricity generation from solar and wind power plants, according to energy sector authorities.
On 13 May, the country’s large-scale solar and wind power plants jointly produced 62.4 million kWh of electricity over a 24-hour period. Of this total, 36 million kWh came from solar generation, while 26.4 million kWh was generated by wind power. This accounted for about 29% of total electricity production.
The figure exceeded the previous record by 10.4 million kWh, representing an increase of approximately 20%.
The previous maximum was recorded on April 28 of this year, when output reached 52 million kWh.
Including hydropower generation, the share of “green” electricity in total production reached 59% as of 12:00 on 13 May.
