Uzbekistan sends 100 citizens on free Hajj pilgrimage
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, 100 citizens will be sent on a Hajj pilgrimage on a free-of-charge basis under a special program titled the “Presidential Hajj,” the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan said.
According to the board, the group includes representatives from various professional sectors. First Deputy Chairman of the Muslim Board of Uzbekistan Khomidjon Ishmetbekov said the selection of participants was carried out in strict accordance with established procedures.
The board noted that the program is being implemented as part of efforts to support citizens undertaking pilgrimage travel to Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, on May 2, farewell ceremonies were held in Tashkent for the first groups of pilgrims departing for the 2026 Hajj season. The official ceremony took place at the “Novza” mosque in the capital.
