Uzbekistan and Russia to discuss academic and economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —  Russia’s Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov will visit Tashkent as part of a delegation from the Russian government, according to the press service of the Russian ministry.

During the visit, which Reshetnikov will make alongside the rector of the All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade (VAFT) under the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, Vittoria Idrisova, a meeting is planned with the rector of the Tashkent State University of Economics (TSUE) Tulkin Teshabayev.

The meeting will focus on the next steps and the implementation of agreements made within the framework of the memorandum on institutional, academic, and scientific cooperation signed by VAFT and TSUE in May 2024.

The memorandum includes provisions for international academic mobility of students, faculty, and experts from Russia and Uzbekistan, mutual recognition of diplomas, the implementation of joint educational and scientific projects, as well as the exchange of experience, practices, and teaching materials. Both sides believe this will strengthen bilateral foreign economic relations between the countries.

Additionally, the visit’s agenda includes a tour of the newly established Expert Center for Strategic Initiatives of Uzbekistan, which was opened with support from VAFT under the Russian Ministry of Economic Development. Experts at the center will analyze Uzbekistan’s market, select promising business projects and initiatives, develop trade, economic, and investment cooperation with Russia, and evaluate Uzbekistan’s internal and external economic policies to address the country’s strategic socio-economic development goals.

At the meeting with the head of the Expert Center for Strategic Initiatives of Uzbekistan, discussions will also cover the implementation of current and planned projects, the preparation of qualified personnel, and the prospects of opening a VAFT branch in Tashkent.
