Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ferghana region, led by regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov, has concluded an official visit to Kuala Lumpur, securing agreements in agriculture, healthcare, tourism and construction, with the first shipments of Ferghana-grown apricots and peaches entering the Malaysian market.

Meeting with Malaysia’s Agriculture Minister

During the visit, Bozorov held talks with Malaysia’s Minister of Agriculture and Food Security Mohamad bin Sabu, as well as representatives of several major companies.

The sides discussed expanding trade and economic cooperation, introducing advanced agricultural technologies, and implementing joint projects.

Mohamad bin Sabu praised reforms carried out in Uzbekistan and noted broad opportunities for further cooperation.

Malaysian companies BDI, FAMA Corp. and NAFAS expressed interest in importing environmentally clean fruit and vegetable products from the Ferghana region. The creation of a regional trade and logistics centre in Kuala Lumpur was also discussed as a basis for regular supplies.

First shipments of cherries, apricots and peaches delivered

As a practical outcome of the visit, the first export shipment of Ferghana fruit was sent to Malaysia. Cherries, and for the first time apricots and peaches, were delivered to Kuala Lumpur by air.

The initiative was implemented by the Ferghana Trade House, opened in Malaysia in March this year, together with Quva Agrostar and KK24 enterprises.

The products were prepared in accordance with Malaysian market quality standards.

Bozorov described the shipment as a step that elevates bilateral economic cooperation to a new level and instructed efforts to increase volumes, expand product range and build a sustainable logistics system.

Business talks: tourism, construction and new projects

At the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Malaysia, a meeting was held with Managing Director of Aero Art Sendirian Berhad and Spora Global Sdn Bhd, Datuk Mohamad Azri Abdul Rahman.

The sides reviewed cooperation opportunities in tourism, construction and agricultural exports. The Malaysian side was presented with the investment potential of the region.

Following the talks, the parties agreed to jointly develop specific projects.

Memorandum on dialysis centres

One of the key outcomes of the visit was the signing of a memorandum with Malaysian company Orion Consortium Sdn. Bhd. to establish modern haemodialysis centres in the Ferghana region under public-private partnership terms.

The company operates 40 dialysis centres in Malaysia and specialises in haemodialysis, pharmaceuticals and primary healthcare services.

The project provides for the construction of centres equipped to international standards for patients with kidney diseases.

Meeting with Uzbek citizens abroad

During the visit, Bozorov, together with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Malaysia Karomidin Gadoev, met with Uzbek students and professionals working in Malaysian companies.

The regional head highlighted expanding opportunities for young people in education and careers in IT, finance, innovation and engineering, and expressed readiness to support their initiatives and maintain ongoing dialogue.
