Uzbekistan Uncovers Job Placement Fraud Schemes

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Uzbekistan, three cases of fraud involving illegal promises of overseas employment have been identified and suppressed. The offenders allegedly offered citizens job placements and work visa arrangements in Israel, Bulgaria, and Lithuania in exchange for large sums of money, according to the press service of the Department under the Prosecutor General’s Office.

The first case was recorded in the Mirzachul district. According to investigators, a suspect promised a local resident employment in Israel, claiming to have high-level connections. The service was valued at US$10,000.

The individual was detained while receiving an advance payment of US$4,000.

In the second case, a resident of Bukhara allegedly gained the trust of two citizens and promised to arrange their employment in Bulgaria and Lithuania. He received US$3,400 for visa processing and was detained during the operation.

The third case took place in the Samarkand region, where the head of a private company allegedly promised to secure a work visa for Israel in exchange for US$17,000. He was detained while receiving an advance payment of US$2,000.

Criminal cases have been opened in all incidents under fraud-related provisions and charges connected to bribery. Investigations are ongoing.
