Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ferghana region of Uzbekistan and Japan’s Tochigi Prefecture have agreed to develop long-term cooperation in the fields of investment, industry and innovation, according to the results of a meeting between Ferghana region governor Khayrullo Bozorov and Tochigi Governor Tomikazu Fukuda.

The talks took place during an official visit by the Uzbek delegation to Japan and were held in a warm and business-oriented atmosphere. The sides discussed expanding interregional cooperation and implementing joint investment and innovation projects.

Tochigi Governor Tomikazu Fukuda positively assessed the business forum held between the two regions, noting its importance for the development of bilateral cooperation. The governor of Ferghana region expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasized the importance of strengthening ties with the Japanese region.

During the talks, information was presented on the investment potential of the Ferghana region, including industrial zones, export opportunities for agricultural products and human capital development. The Japanese side expressed interest in ongoing reforms in the region and the conditions created for foreign investors.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in the automotive industry, industrial collaboration, agriculture, tourism, education, as well as in the areas of smart cities and digitalization. Special attention was given to developing business contacts, establishing sister-city relations and holding regular business events.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to establish working groups to prepare joint projects and further develop a sustainable partnership. The Tochigi Prefecture delegation was invited to visit the Ferghana region.
