Uzbekistan Seizes Over 26 kg of Narcotics
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A total of 26.5 kg of narcotic substances were seized in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent and Namangan regions, and members of a transnational criminal group were detained, law enforcement authorities said.
In Kibray district of the Tashkent region, two members of a transnational criminal network were detained while attempting to sell 21.5 kg of narcotics, including hashish, opium, and methamphetamine. The drugs were concealed in a field area.
According to investigators, the suspects were acting on instructions from one of the organizers of the criminal group operating in Uzbekistan.
In the Namangan region, Uychi district, another member of the drug trafficking network — a previously convicted 63-year-old man — was detained while retrieving 5 kg of hashish from a field cache.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 5 of Article 273 of the Criminal Code in connection with these incidents.
