Saida Mirziyoyeva Comments on Measures for Small Business
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva, has commented on the recent presidential decree aimed at creating more favorable economic and administrative conditions for the development of small business entities. She published the statement on her Telegram channel.
According to her, representatives of the business community have recently positively assessed the measures to ease conditions for small business operations.
“The problem has existed for a long time. During visits to the regions, entrepreneurs repeatedly said that the VAT registration threshold of one billion soums was too low, tax administration was complicated, and the number of inspections and reporting requirements was excessive. As a result, instead of developing steadily, businesses were being artificially split into smaller entities,” Mirziyoyeva said.
She also stated that, in accordance with the new presidential decree, the minimum threshold for value-added tax (VAT) registration has been increased from 1 billion to 5 billion soums. According to her assessment, the impact of the adopted measures will primarily be felt by family businesses, cafés, retail shops, service companies, and a wide range of entrepreneurs operating in the small business sector.
