Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A ceremonial presentation of state awards to workers in the fields of culture, arts and literature was held at the International Congress Center in Tashkent in accordance with a presidential decree issued on 28 May.

The event was attended by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

In his speech at the ceremony, the head of state emphasized that a country’s strength and authority are determined not only by economic achievements, but also by the level of development of its culture, literature, arts and spiritual life.

“The voice of a nation with rich literature, heartfelt music, meaningful theater, strong and inspiring cinema, and attractive art will always carry weight in the world,” the President said.

According to Mirziyoyev, a modern cultural space is being formed in the process of building the New Uzbekistan, contributing to the spiritual and moral development of individuals. Writers, poets, cultural figures, artists, intellectuals and representatives of the creative industry play a special role in this work.

The President noted that the selfless work of creative professionals strengthens national identity, broadens public horizons, and promotes the values of patriotism, humanism and kindness among young people.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev stated that 167 representatives of culture, arts and literature were awarded high state honors. They include writers, poets, singers, musicians, composers, theater and film actors, dance artists, circus performers, bakhshi storytellers, painters, artisans, museum and library workers, cultural heritage institution staff, as well as teachers and mentors.

A total of 24 individuals were awarded state honors posthumously.

“Proper recognition of each person’s merits in our country, even after they have passed away, is our moral duty. This corresponds to the spiritual values of our people, who deeply respect the memory of their ancestors,” the President said.

During the ceremony, the head of state personally presented honorary titles, orders and medals to the recipients, congratulating them on behalf of the people of Uzbekistan and expressing confidence that such recognition would inspire further creative achievements.
