Starting in 2026, the list of activities for self-employed citizens in Uzbekistan to be reduced
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 2026, the list of activities available to self-employed citizens in Uzbekistan will be reduced. However, new areas, including marketplace trading, will be added to it.
On 19 March, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev approved measures to expand the role of small and medium-sized businesses in the economy. As part of this initiative, US$100 million is expected to be allocated to support startups in promising sectors.
According to the newly approved list by the president, self-employed citizens will be able to engage in 72 types of activities — 33 fewer than in the current version of the list.
The areas removed from the list include retail trade, hairdressing and cosmetology services, photography and videography, the production of confectionery, salads, pickles, and beverages, guide services, copywriting, translation and real estate services, vehicle repair, and several other fields.
At the same time, selling goods and services through marketplaces, as well as activities related to preserving intangible cultural heritage objects, have been added to the list.
As for livestock farming, starting in 2026, self-employed citizens will be allowed to raise only chickens.
