Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Mayor of Paris, Anne Hidalgo, as part of his state visit to France.

The head of state congratulated the Mayor of Paris on the successful hosting of the Summer Olympic and Paralympic Games and expressed gratitude for naming a street in Paris after Samarkand. In response, Anne Hidalgo acknowledged Uzbekistan’s contribution to ensuring public safety during the Olympic events.

The discussions focused on prospects for cooperation between Tashkent and Paris, including the exchange of expertise in urban planning, public transportation development, green space creation, digitalization, and modernization of city infrastructure.

Additionally, the parties considered the organization of joint exhibitions, cultural and art days, and gastronomic festivals.

The meeting concluded with an official ceremony naming a street in Paris after Samarkand. Furthermore, President Mirziyoyev and Mayor Hidalgo signed a document recognizing the Uzbek leader as an honorary guest of Paris, with the commemorative certificate to be preserved in the city hall’s museum archives.
