Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 13 March, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Speaker of the French National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, at the Bourbon Palace in Paris.

During their conversation, the parties discussed prospects for expanding interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Both sides expressed deep satisfaction with the historical significance of the current visit, which has elevated Uzbek-French relations to the level of a strategic partnership.

Yaël Braun-Pivet highly praised the democratic reforms being carried out under the "New Uzbekistan" concept, emphasizing their contribution to strengthening representative bodies of power, protecting the rights of women, children, youth, and people with disabilities, as well as ensuring environmental security.

The discussion also covered the establishment of an Uzbek-French Interparliamentary Forum and the resumption of friendship groups in accordance with the agreed "roadmap."

President Mirziyoyev invited the Speaker of the National Assembly to visit Uzbekistan and participate in the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly, which will be held in April this year in Tashkent.

At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the Guest of Honor Book.
