Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The total assets of pawnshops in Uzbekistan reached 784.7 billion soums as of 1 April 2026, according to data released by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
The figure increased significantly compared to the same period in 2025, when total assets stood at 551.4 billion soums.
As a result, the sector recorded growth of nearly 42%, reflecting the expansion of pawnshop activity in the country’s financial market.
Lending remains the main area of operations for pawnshops. The volume of issued loans increased from 451.5 billion soums to 663.6 billion soums, maintaining its position as the largest component of their activity.
Total capital also grew, rising from 459.8 billion soums to 625.5 billion soums, an increase of 36%. The Central Bank noted that the rise in charter capital is linked to the expansion of operations funded through internal resources.
Liabilities of pawnshops also increased sharply, from 91.6 billion soums to 159.2 billion soums, up 74%. The bulk of liabilities consists of borrowed credits and loans.
Regulatory data indicate continued growth in Uzbekistan’s pawnshop services sector amid rising lending activity and an expanding resource base within the financial system.
