Uzbekistan, China Discuss Tourism Investment Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and China discussed the development of investment cooperation in the tourism sector during a meeting on May 11 between the Chairman of the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee, Abdulaziz Akkulov, and Cliff Zhang, head of the investment company Templewater.

During the talks, the sides reviewed prospects for implementing investment projects in tourism, hospitality, energy, and artificial intelligence. Particular attention was given to attracting leading international hotel brands from China, including Rosewood Hotels & Resorts and Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts.

The parties also considered opportunities to expand international promotion of Uzbekistan’s tourism potential and strengthen cooperation in tourism infrastructure development.

The meeting included discussions on ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s tourism sector, measures to improve the investment climate, and initiatives aimed at developing modern infrastructure for receiving tourists.

Special focus was placed on the development of tourism in Uzbekistan’s mountainous regions using Hong Kong’s experience, including the preparation of master plans and the attraction of foreign investors to infrastructure projects.

In addition, participants were presented with a hotel and family guesthouse project being implemented at the Imam al-Bukhari complex in Samarkand region.

Following the talks, the sides confirmed their interest in intensifying cooperation in attracting investment to the accommodation sector, developing hotel infrastructure, and promoting Uzbekistan on the international tourism market.
