Ways to deepen cooperation ties between Uzbekistan and Bangladesh discussed

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 29 July, as part of the visit of the government delegation of ‘Uzbekistan to the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Dhaka, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjaev met with Advisor to the Prime Minister of Bangladesh Salman Rahman.

During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of trade, economic and investment cooperation. The positive effect of the consultations held in March this year, at which an agreement was reached to develop cooperation in the textile industry, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and water management, tourism, and the cultural and humanitarian sphere, was noted. Further steps have been outlined to deepen cooperative ties between industrial enterprises.

Bangladesh is the second largest clothing exporter in the world. There are 430 yarn factories, 802 manufacturing factories and 244 fabric dyeing factories, 32 factories specializing in denim and 22 factories in home textiles. Over the past 7 years, the garment industry in Bangladesh has increased its annual income from US$19 billion to US$34 billion (79% growth).

Following the talks, the parties agreed to develop a joint Roadmap as soon as possible, which will include specific investment projects in priority industries, as well as joint measures to promote and implement them.
