Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Visa has appointed Sergey Martynchuk as senior vice president and regional manager responsible for Ukraine, Moldova, Southeast Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus, the global payments company said on 6 May.

In his new role, Martynchuk will be based in Kyiv and oversee the company’s operations and strategic implementation across 17 countries in the region.

He replaces Kristina Dorosh, who has moved to a global role within Visa’s Value-Added Services division and relocated to San Francisco, where the company’s headquarters are located.

His responsibilities will include developing cooperation with banks, retail networks, technology companies, and government institutions, as well as promoting digital payment solutions.

Tareq Mahmud, Visa’s regional president for Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, said the appointment would strengthen the company’s position in the region. He said Martynchuk’s experience in technology and large-scale team management would support the development of client and partnership initiatives.

Sergey Martynchuk has around 20 years of management experience in the region and previously held senior positions at Cisco, where he worked on technology transformation and strategic initiatives. He holds academic degrees in computer science and finance.

Martynchuk said he views his appointment as an opportunity to further advance digital payments in a key region and expand the use of solutions related to money transfers, security, and digital technologies.

Visa has been operating in Uzbekistan for more than 30 years, working with banks, retail businesses, and government organizations.

The company is developing the country’s digital payments infrastructure, introducing tokenization technologies, biometric authentication, and e-commerce solutions.
