Uzbekyengilsanoat to implement 28 investment projects by the end of 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Some twenty-eight light industry enterprises will be commissioned in Uzbekistan by the end of 2012 with the cost of over US$194.8 million, chairperson of the State Joint Stock Company “Uzbekyengilsanoat” Ilkhom Haydarov stated.

He said that successful implementation of these projects will create 3,700 new jobs in the country.

Haydarov noted that production capacities of Uzbekyengilsanoat is increasing each year and produces wide range of cotton yarn and fabrics, , sewing and knitting goods, and hosiery. The enterprises of Uzbekyengilsanoat also manufacture medical goods, special clothes, etc.

Uzbekyengilsanoat currently unites 290 enterprises, of which 156 companies were founded with investments from South Korea, India, Singapore, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, USA, and others. Overall US$1.9 billion investments were attracted into the sector in independence of Uzbekistan. Over 68,000 works were created at these enterprises.

In December 2010, the programme on development of textile industry for 2011-2015 was approved, which includes 55 projects, including creation of vertically integrated textile complexes in various regions of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekyengilsanoat is also working with South Korea’s TMC and Turkey’s TTM Makina on organization of production of equipment on manufacturing of hosiery, tape and carding machines, as well as textile equipment. In October 2012, the first stage of Rieter AG has been launched, which produces tape and carding machines. Total sum of investments made up US$3.8 million.

Haydarov said that created favourable conditions in Uzbekistan were main factors for attracting investments into sector. He said that the industry attracted investments (US$1.9 billion) from Singapore, Korea, Russia, Turkey, Japan, Switzerland and others.

Currently, Uzbek textile enterprises export their products to the CIS and European states, as well as South Korea. Arab states also have good potential to export Uzbek textile goods, he added.

Ilkhom Haydarov underlined that geography of exports is increasing and currently the industry started to export products to Southern America, Canada and the USA.

It was noted that Uzbekyengilsanoat will continue work on requirement of existing and creating new capacities in 2013, which will help to create new jobs. It is also planned to create new capacities on processing of cotton-fiber, which will allow to increase exports of Uzbekistan.
