Uzbekistan to Repair 798 km of Gas Networks in 2026

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan plans to implement a large-scale program to modernize its gas supply system in 2026, including the repair and construction of gas networks as well as improvements in operational efficiency, according to JSC Hududgazta’minot.

Under the approved plans, 93,000 km of gas pipelines and their connections will be inspected over the course of the year using specialized equipment. In addition, 16,200 km of underground gas networks will be surveyed using mobile laboratories, while technical inspections will be carried out at 40,200 gas distribution stations.

The program also includes the overhaul of 400 gas distribution points, as well as pressure testing of 6,600 km of gas networks for tightness. Special attention will be given to cleaning 15,700 km of above-ground gas pipelines to restore proper technical and visual condition.

In addition, it is planned to convert 218,658 households to a two-stage gas supply system instead of a three-stage system, aimed at reducing technical losses. Within these zones, 1,803 gas distribution points will be dismantled.

According to project documentation, 797.8 km of gas networks will be repaired and 71.2 km of new pipelines will be constructed in 2026.

The program is aimed at improving the reliability of gas supply, reducing network losses, and modernizing the country’s gas infrastructure.
