Uzbekistan to create gardens at 6,000 hectares in 2013
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will create gardens at almost 6,000 hectares and vineyards at over 5,500 hectares in 2013.

UzA reported quoting Ministry of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan that currently Uzbekistan has 224,000 hectares of gardens and 127,000 hectares of vineyards.

The report said that it is planned to create gardens at almost 6,000 hectares and vineyards at over 5,500 hectares in 2013. Some 18 million fruit trees and vine saplings will be delivered to farmers.

Uzbekistan also pays attention to creation of high-yield intensive gardens. Currently, such gardens were created at 1,300 hectares in Samarkand region, 1,300 hectares in Tashkent region, almost 800 hectares in Navoi region, 600 hectares – Kashkadarya region, 300 hectares – in Andijan region, 300 hectares – in Jizzakh region and over 400 hectares in Namangan region.

Uzbekistan increased production of fruits by 10% and grapes by 11% in 2012. Some 2.052 million tonnes of garden products were produced and some part of them was exported.

Currently, Uzbek fruits, vegetables, melons and gourds are exported to the US, Germany, India, UAE, South Korea, Turkey and CIS states. In 2012, Uzbekistan exported 110,000 tonnes of fruits and 119,000 tonnes of grapes.
