The event will be attended by Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, for which management of transboundary water resources is key issue.

Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Water Management of Uzbekistan Shavkat Hamroyev said that construction of small hydro power stations is only correct decision for water misbalance in Central Asia.

He said that Uzbekistan is for construction of small hydro power stations, which did not change water and ecologic regime of rivers and basin.

Uzbekistan is against construction of large dam at Vahsh river in Tajikistan, which was named as Rogun hydro power station. Construction of the station will create water shortages in Central Asia and impact to irrigation system and agriculture sector of Uzbekistan.

In its turn, Tajikistan believes that construction of Rogun hydro power station will ensure its electricity independence as the country heavily imports electricity from neighboring states.
