Uzbekistan Population Exceeds 38.3 Million People
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The permanent population of Uzbekistan reached 38,382,700 people as of April 1, 2026, increasing by 1.8% or 684,900 people compared to the same period in 2025.
According to statistical data, 19,541,300 people live in urban areas, accounting for 50.9% of the population, while 18,841,400 people (49.1%) reside in rural areas. The number of men stands at 19,331,100 (50.4%), and women at 19,051,600 (49.6%).
Population density reached 85.5 people per square kilometer, increasing by 1.5 people compared to the previous year.
During January–March 2026, 191,100 live births were registered, corresponding to a birth rate of 20.2 per thousand. This figure is 7,000 lower than in the same period last year.
Among newborns, 98,500 were boys (51.5%) and 92,600 were girls (48.5%). In urban areas, 93,700 children were born, while 97,400 were born in rural regions.
During the same period, 43,500 deaths were recorded, corresponding to a mortality rate of 4.6 per thousand, which is 2,100 higher than a year earlier. Among the deceased, 24,300 were men (55.8%) and 19,200 were women (44.2%).
In cities, 23,900 deaths were recorded, while rural areas accounted for 19,600.
The number of registered marriages totaled 42,300, with a marriage rate of 4.5 per thousand, representing a decrease of 1,500 compared to the previous year.
Divorces reached 12,700, with a divorce rate of 1.3 per thousand, increasing by 1,200 year-on-year. In urban areas, 7,600 divorces were registered, while rural areas accounted for 5,100.
Migration data shows that in January–March 2026, 80,159 people arrived in the country, including 79,438 internal migrants and 721 individuals from abroad.
At the same time, 81,715 people left, including 79,438 internal relocations and 2,277 departures abroad.
