Uzbekistan introduces new regulations for taxi passenger transportation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan has adopted a resolution titled “On Additional Measures to Regulate Passenger Transportation by Motor Vehicles,” aimed at improving conditions for passenger transport services.

According to the document, legal entities operating non-route taxis are granted several new rights.

In particular, they are now permitted to stop for passenger pick-up and drop-off in areas marked with a "No Stopping" sign, including zones adjacent to airports and railway stations.

Additionally, these taxis will have free access to paid parking spaces at airports, railway stations, bus terminals, construction sites with over 50% state participation, as well as at markets and shopping complexes. Furthermore, they will be allowed to use designated lanes reserved for public transport.

From 15 April 2025  to 31 December 2026, non-route taxis will be authorized to operate in Tashkent, provided that their vehicles meet the standards set by the Ministry of Transport, have no more than eight seats (including the driver), and offer high levels of comfort. These permits will be issued to self-employed drivers.

Moreover, self-employed taxi drivers will be required to pay a state fee equivalent to three times the base calculation unit (BCU).
