Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan, as an observer state to the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), is actively expanding its cooperation with member countries, the Minister for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission Daniyar Imanaliev said during a meeting with Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Russia Botirjon Asadov.

According to the EAEU, the sides discussed the current state and prospects of cooperation between the EAEU and Uzbekistan, including the development of trade and economic ties, investment cooperation, and industrial collaboration.

Daniyar Imanaliev said that by the end of 2025, the volume of foreign trade between Uzbekistan and EAEU member states increased by 14.6% compared to the previous year and exceeded US$18 billion.

“Uzbekistan is a strategic partner for the EAEU, and we see great opportunities to further expand mutual trade, economic and investment cooperation, and industrial collaboration,” Imanaliev said.

Uzbek Ambassador Botirjon Asadov, in turn, emphasized the constructive nature of cooperation with the Eurasian Economic Commission and stated Uzbekistan’s intention to make full use of its observer status in the EAEU.

He noted that EAEU countries account for about a quarter of Uzbekistan’s total foreign trade turnover. According to him, special attention should be paid to developing transit potential jointly and the country’s participation in key international transport corridors linking EAEU states with external markets.

The meeting also discussed preparations for a new joint action plan between the Eurasian Economic Commission and the government of Uzbekistan for 2027–2030.

The sides reviewed the progress in preparing the fifth meeting of the joint working group on cooperation between the EEC and the Uzbek government.

In addition, Uzbekistan confirmed its participation in events of the Eurasian Economic Forum, which will be held on 28–29 May in Astana.
