Uzbekistan and Turkey Deepen Parliamentary Ties in Tashkent Talks
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan and Turkey have signaled a push to deepen institutional parliamentary ties, with senior legislators from both countries meeting in Tashkent to expand bilateral cooperation beyond its existing political and economic foundations.
Alisher Agzamkhojayev, Chairman of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis on International Relations, Foreign Economic Relations, Foreign Investment and Tourism, hosted a delegation from Turkey led by Veysel Tipioğlu, Chairman of the Security and Intelligence Commission of Turkey's Grand National Assembly.
The talks covered the current state of Uzbek-Turkish strategic partnership and prospects for advancing inter-parliamentary engagement. Both sides noted that relations between the two countries have reached a qualitatively new level, driven by the political will and mutual trust established between the two nations' leaderships.
Participants emphasized that bilateral cooperation has developed consistently across political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian dimensions, with parliamentary dialogue increasingly forming a structural pillar of that relationship.
Particular attention was given to the exchange of experience in legislative practice, parliamentary oversight mechanisms, and the functioning of specialized committees. The delegations also examined avenues for further expanding institutional ties between the two parliaments.
Both sides confirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-parliamentary contacts and broadening the partnership across a wide range of areas.
