Uzbekistan and Kuwait Discuss Cultural Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Kuwait, Ayubkhon Yunusov, held talks with Kuwait’s Minister of Information and Culture, Omar Saud Abdulaziz Al-Omar, the Dunyo news agency reported.

During the meeting, the parties emphasized the importance of implementing in practice the intergovernmental agreement on culture and the arts signed during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Kuwait in February 2025.

The sides noted that Uzbekistan’s Minister of Culture had previously invited his Kuwaiti counterpart to participate in the International Maqom Art Festival, scheduled to be held in Namangan in June 2026. The participation of Kuwaiti representatives is viewed as an important element of cultural engagement between the two countries.

The parties also discussed postponing the “Days of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan” event in Kuwait until next year. The event had originally been scheduled for April 2026. According to the source, the postponement was proposed by the Kuwaiti side due to the geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

The meeting also addressed opportunities to expand the involvement of Uzbek cultural and arts professionals working in Kuwait in the activities of local cultural and educational institutions.

The Kuwaiti side expressed interest in further developing cultural and humanitarian cooperation with Uzbekistan, including in the fields of culture, the arts, music education, and media.
