Uzbekistan and China Discuss Pharma, Biotech Projects

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 25 May 2026, Director of Uzbekistan’s Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Abdulla Azizov held talks with a delegation of representatives from Chinese pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies.

During the meeting, the parties discussed expanding investment cooperation and further development of the pharmaceutical sector.

Investment potential and support measures

The Chinese delegation was presented with information on Uzbekistan’s investment potential in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical device manufacturing, cosmetics production, and medical services. Opportunities for access to Central Asian and CIS markets were also highlighted.

Particular attention was paid to existing conditions for foreign investors, including free economic zones, tax and customs incentives, mechanisms supporting local production, and opportunities for technology transfer.

Project discussions and sector development

The parties also reviewed issues related to the implementation of investment projects in the pharmaceutical industry, expansion of production localization processes, development of research activities, and strengthening the sector’s export potential.

These areas were described as key priorities for the further development of the pharmaceutical sector and the attraction of foreign investment.

Memorandum of cooperation

Following the meeting, a memorandum of understanding was signed with the organization E Healthcare Executive.
