Uzbekistan adopts measures to support liquorice processors
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Government of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution “On measures on improving and supporting activities of organization, processing liquorice”.

The document was adopted in order to simplify procedure of obtaining special permissions, creation of favourable conditions for business activity, as well as improve order of control over rational use of plants and export of them.

The government allowed legal entities and individuals to collect liquorice without special permission if they sign agreement on supply of liquorice with processing organizations of Uzbekistan, which produce extract of liquorice root.

At the same time, if legal entities and individuals do not sign agreement with processing plants, they will have to obtain permission from the State Committee of Uzbekistan on nature protection.

The Government of Uzbekistan set fee for export of liquorice as raw material and its products. Legal entities and individuals will have to pay US$225 per tonne if they export raw liquorice and US$100 per tonne if they ship liquorice produces to abroad.

The fee for export permission of liquorice and its products will be paid in national currency on the exchange rate of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, set on the day of payment.

The Government entrusted the State Customs Committee of Uzbekistan to carry out customs clearings of exports of liquorice based on permissions of the State Committee of Uzbekistan on nature protection.

Liquorice is widely used in pharmaceutical and food industry. It is also used as technical plant as foaming agent.
