Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An analysis by the Center for Economic Research and Reform showed sales in the first half of this year. maintained demand, continuing the upward trend in the activity that began in January this year.

The Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) analyzed the situation in the automotive market of Uzbekistan for the first half of 2022.

In the first half of 2022, 712,000 vehicles were registered in Uzbekistan, which is 2.1 times more than in the first half of 2021.

Since the beginning of the year, there has been a significant increase in vehicle sales in all regions of the country. In particular, the highest growth rates were noted in Namangan by 3 times (+45.4 thousand), Andijan by 2.5 times (+32.2 thousand), Bukhara by 2.4 times (+24.7 thousand), Surkhandarya by 2.4 times (+23.9 thousand) and in Ferghana 2.4 times (+45.7 thousand) regions.

17% of the increase (375 thousand) is accounted for by an increase in car production in the republic (64.4 thousand), about 1% - for imports (2.6 thousand), and the remaining 82% - for the secondary market (308 thousand).

Overall, 24% of the total number of registered vehicles are new vehicles. The number of cars purchased in the primary market (domestic production - 160.3 thousand foreign - 9.8 thousand) amounted to 170 thousand units, an increase of 1.6 times (+67 thousand) compared to the same period in 2022. (103 thousand).

In particular, in the context of regions, the largest growth was noted in the city of Tashkent - 1.7 times (+18 thousand), Fergana - 1.8 times (+6 thousand), Samarkand - 1.6 times (+5.6 thousand). ), Khorezm - 1.8 times (+5.6 thousand), Andijan - 1.7 times (+4.9 thousand) and Bukhara - 1.7 times (+4.8 thousand) regions.

In February this year, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the development of the automotive industry in Uzbekistan, at which it was noted that 160,000 cars would be produced in Uzbekistan in the first half of the year and 275,000 by the end of the year to meet domestic demand.

If in the first half of 2021 an average of 224 thousand cars were sold on the secondary market, then since the beginning of this year. this figure amounted to 542 thousand units (an increase of 308 thousand).

Such a sharp increase in the sale of cars is due to the complete abolition from 1 January 2022 of the fee for registration and re-registration of vehicles, as well as the state duty levied for notarization of the contract of sale.

The number of registered foreign-made cars in the first half of this year amounted to 9.8 thousand, an increase of 1.5 times compared to last year.

About 51% of sales of new cars of foreign production fall in the city of Tashkent. In terms of regions, this figure is in the Tashkent region - 9%, Kashkadarya - 7%, Samarkand - 6%, Bukhara - 5%, Navoi - 5%, Khorezm - 4% and Andijan - 3%, respectively.
