Heads of press services of both chambers of parliament, state bodies, companies, public organizations, and mass media participated at the event.

The visit is aimed at strengthening role of mass media and their social activity in civil society institutes system, developing proposals on further improving access to publically important information, ensuring transparency and openness of work of state bodies, etc.

At the meeting, it was said that ensuring freedom and rights of citizens in information sphere, which include implementation of rights to receive and spread information, is important foundation for construction of democratic society. Mass media play a key role in ensuring these rights. Mass media should actively participate in strengthening civil positions and increasing political and legal knowledge of population.

It was stated that mass media play important role in democratization of the country, its integration to international community, ensure religious and national concord, stability in the society.

Participants said that independent and free development of mass media and civil society institutes, as well as protection of human rights will solve these tasks.

According to attendees, mass media and press services, ensuring transparency activities of the state bodies, became important communication channel between society and the government. It was added that free access to information and information openness of state bodies are important factors in construction of legal state.

At the end of the meeting, the participants developed proposals and recommendations on effective interaction of mass media and information service of the state bodies.
