Share of small businesses in GDP of Uzbekistan makes up 54.6% in 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The share of small business in the total volume of Uzbekistan’s GDP made up 54.6% in January-December 2012, which is 0.6 percentage points more than in January-December 2011.

The committee said that the share of small enterprises and microfirms in the GDP production was 33.9% in January-December 2012 versus 33.7% in January-December 2011.

In January-December 2012, small business entities provided employment to 9.253 million persons (75.7% of total persons employed in the economy), including 6.852 million persons of the individual sector and 2.401 million persons of small enterprises and microfirms.

The number of persons engaged in the private sector of small business was 8.443 million or 91.2% of total employment in the sphere of small business.

The small businesses produced industrial products for 11.253 trillion soums (22.2% of total industrial production), which grew by 14.3% year-on-year.

The sector utilized 7.767 trillion soums of investments (35.2% of total utilized investments), which rose 23% year-on-year.

Small businesses executed construction works worth 7.996 trillion soums (70.7% of total construction works) or 15.4% more year-on-year.

The sector ensured the growth of freight turnover of motor transport by 9.4% (81.4% of total freight turnover) and passenger turnover - by 9.2% (87.8% of total passenger turnover).

The small enterprises formed 45.3% (16.737 trillion soums) of total retail trade turnover (the growth by 9.4%), 43.5% (4.186 trillion soums) of total paid services – 44.7% and 6.146 trillion soums respectively (the growth by 10.3%).

The sector exported goods for US$2.238 billion (15.7% of total exports) and imported goods worth US$4.518 billion (37.6% of total imports).
