President Mirziyoyev Expresses Condolences to Xi Jinping After Coal Mine Explosion in China

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent a message of condolence to President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in connection with the large number of casualties and injuries caused by an explosion at a coal mine in Shanxi province.

The head of state expressed sympathy to the families and relatives of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to the injured.

According to China Central Television, at least 90 people were killed in a gas explosion at a coal mine in northern Shanxi province. More than 100 injured individuals were taken to medical institutions.

The incident occurred on Friday evening at the Liushenyuy coal mine in Qingyuan County. At the time of the accident, 247 workers were underground.

A rescue operation is ongoing at the site, involving hundreds of rescue workers and paramedics. The cause of the gas explosion is currently under investigation.
