Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Presidential Decree “On measures to further strengthen guarantees of reliable protection of individual rights and freedoms in operational search and investigative activities” was adopted.

According to the Decree, from 1 January 2025:

a procedure will be introduced for considering the issue of issuing sanctions on procedural decisions at the stage of pre-trial proceedings in criminal cases by individual judges - investigative judges in district and city criminal courts;

the position of investigative judge will be introduced in district and city criminal courts;

the procedure for the sole review of sanctions on procedural decisions issued by the investigating judge at the stage of pre-trial proceedings in criminal cases by the court of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regional and Tashkent city courts, the Military Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan will be determined, only in the appellate instance;

investigative judges will be given powers to consider cases of administrative offenses;

the current procedure for reviewing cases of administrative offenses considered by investigative judges in higher authorities will be maintained.
