OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan supports fight against illicit drugs
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Addressing the challenges of illicit drug trafficking is the focus of a three-day seminar supported by the OSCE that opened today in Tashkent.

The seminar is organized by the the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan jointly with the National Centre on Drug Control and brings together 14 experts from all provinces of Uzbekistan in charge of implementing a country-wide programme in controlling illegal drugs. The participants will learn about the latest national regulations and government agencies’ preventive measures supporting the fight against the illicit trafficking of drugs and chemical precursors.

"This event shows the commitment of Uzbekistan and the OSCE for further enhancing mutual co-operation in the field of combating international narcotics expansion,” said Christoph Opfermann, the Senior Project Officer of the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan. “With this event, we seek to promote and enhance the capacities in the regions to tackle the challenges of drug trafficking, which is essential for addressing security challenges in the region.”

The seminar is part of continuing co-operation between the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan and the National Centre on Drug Control.
