Number of monopoly enterprise falls by 45 positions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- As of 1 January 2013 number of monopoly enterprises decreased by 45 positions compared to the beginning of 2012, the press service of the State Committee of Uzbekistan on privatization, demonopolization and development of competition said.

In the reporting period, number of monopoly products enterprises decreased by 30 positions. Number of monopoly enterprises and goods fell by 27% and 19% respectively.

The committee said that this shows structural changes in economy of Uzbekistan as the enterprises are developing competition and produce new goods.

The committee added that number of monopoly enterprises decreased in such sectors as services (by 31%), food products (by 50%) and other industries (50%).
