Mobile stations to collect biometric data for new passports
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan will create mobile station on collection of biometric data for new passports, local news agency UzA reported.

The agency said that mobile stations will render services to people with disabilities and cannot visit interior bodies personally.

Mobile stations will make photos of citizens and get finger prints of applicants for new passports, the agency said.

UzA said that Ministry of Interior Affairs can issue non-biometric passports to the citizens on request of persons with disabilities.

Biometric passports are introduced in line with the presidential decree “On measures of improving passport system of Uzbekistan” from 23 June 2009.

In line with the decree, Uzbekistan will fully transfer to biometric system of passportization by the end of 2015. Current passports will be valid till 31 December 2015.
