Ministry of Energy: The volume of electricity produced in January-July is 5.3% more compared to the same period of last year

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- On 23 August 2022, on the bakiroo telegram channel, based on official statistics, it was reported that electricity generation indicators decreased in January-July. According to information received from the State Statistics Committee, in January-July 2022, 40 billion 43 million kWh of electricity was produced, which is 297 million kWh less than in the same period of last year.

The Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan, based on accurate reports, states that in January-July this year, 43 billion 250 million kWh of electricity was produced in the republic, which is 2 billion 177 million kWh more than in the same period of last year (growth rate of 5 .3%).

Thermal power plants and centers produced 38 billion 551 million kWh of electricity (1 billion 18 million kWh more than last year, growth rate of 2.7%), including 33 billion 77 million kWh for Thermal Power Plants JSC, 3 billion 345 million kWh for Angren TPP and Novo-Angren TPP.

2 billion 128 million kWh was produced at new thermal power plants built under projects based on public-private partnership (PPP), 219 million kWh - solar photovoltaic stations based on PPP and 4 billion 84 million kWh produced by hydroelectric power plants (898 million kWh more, growth rate 28%).

The difference between the amount of electricity actually generated by power plants and the amount of electricity published on the bakiroo telegram channel according to the State Statistics Committee is due to the following reasons:

First, the information from the State Statistics Committee did not take into account electricity producers classified as small enterprises. In particular, 5 new thermal power plants were launched in Bukhara, Tashkent and Khorezm regions in cooperation with Turkish companies on the basis of PPP, as well as 2 solar photoelectric power plants were launched in the Navoi and Samarkand regions, electricity is produced in the Akhangaran, Khisorak, Kamchik hydroelectric power plants, which was not taken into account in Goskomstat data. Electricity generation by these stations in January-July of the current year amounted to 2 billion 515 million kWh.

Secondly, 1 billion 78 million kWh of electricity generated by the TPP launched by Aksa Enerji in Qibray district of Tashkent region is accounted for not as production, but as sales of electricity;

Thirdly, at the end of each month, some power generating companies provide the State Statistics Committee with data on electricity as “supplied to the grid”. At the same time, they provide data on "total production" to the National Electric Grids of Uzbekistan JSC. For these and other reasons, a difference of 802 million kWh formed between the figures, and this figure was not reflected in the statistics.

The Ministry of Energy expresses its readiness for constant cooperation with the media and other social networks in providing the population with periodic information about the industry.
