Korea invests in the development of beekeeping in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- An event on the theme "Development and improvement of beekeeping resources in Uzbekistan in cooperation with the Republic of Korea" was held at the Tashkent State Agrarian University.

It was attended by the Rector of Andong National University Kwon Sun Tae, Vice-Rector for International Affairs Kim Byung Gyu, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Ik Jo Chun.

The Uzbek side was attended by the First Vice-Rector of the Tashkent State Agrarian University Sohibjon Islomov, Vice-Rector for Financial Affairs Aziz Abduvosikov and Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Umirbek Dzhumaniyozov.

The event was also attended by heads of departments and scholarship holders of the Agrarian University.

As noted at the meeting, funding for this project will be provided by the National Research Foundation of Korea (NRF) and the Korean Invention Advancement Association (KIPA). According to the project, a laboratory and a study room for certification of beekeeping products will be created in Uzbekistan. The equipment and consumables required for the laboratory will be imported from Korea. The term of the project is 3-5 years. Its budget is US$2.5-3 million.

Within the framework of the project, an exhibition center will be organized, where tools, devices, equipment and mechanisms used in beekeeping in the future, industry products (bee milk, bee venom, perga, propolis, wax, etc.), medicines necessary for the treatment and prevention. One of the goals of this project is to assist in the sale of honey and bee products manufactured under the brand name "Uzbekistan" to foreign countries.

The parties also discussed the issues of establishing personnel exchange, and organizing student internships between Andonda National University and Tashkent State Agrarian University in the field of beekeeping, crop production, horticulture, food and other areas. In order to further develop beekeeping in our country, it was agreed that students who graduated from the 3rd year of the Tashkent Agrarian University can study and gain experience in the 4th year of Andong University, as well as students studying in the magistracy and doctoral studies can continue their studies at the Korean university.
