Japan Deports Uzbek Citizen Over Visa Violation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Embassy of Japan in Tashkent has confirmed the deportation of a citizen of Uzbekistan who was staying in the country illegally. According to the diplomatic mission, the deportation was carried out on 8 May by Japan’s Immigration Services Agency.

The embassy said the individual had entered Japan on a short-term business visa but remained in the country after the permitted period of stay had expired.

Diplomats reminded that short-term visas issued for tourism, business trips, or visits to relatives or acquaintances do not grant the right to work or to long-term residence in Japan.

The embassy noted that when cases of illegal stay or unauthorized work are detected, foreign nationals are detained by police and may be placed in immigration detention centers, followed by deportation.

It also said Japanese authorities share information about violators with Uzbekistan’s relevant agencies, and that appropriate legal measures may be taken upon their return.

The embassy urged Uzbek citizens to comply with visa regulations and warned against trusting job offers in Japan based on short-term visas.
