UzA reported that production of industrial goods rose by 16.3%, construction works – 15.4% and services – 17.5% in 2012.

Share of small and private businesses in GRP of the region made up 76.5% and service sector – 43.1% in 2012.

During a year, some 78.9 km of gas pipelines, 334.9 km of water pipeline were commissioned in the region. The region also constructed 1.079 million square meters of houses.

Over 93,800 new jobs were created in Samarkand region, of which 78,100 fell to share of rural areas. About 55,300 college graduates were employed.
