Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Russia’s Gazprom will purchase 7.5 billion cubic meters of gas from Uzbekistan in 2013, which is 17% less compared to 2012, Interfax reported.

On 24 December 2012, Gazprom and Uzbekistan signed a contract on purchase of Uzbekistan and agreement on transportation of gas through territory of Uzbekistan in 2013-2015.

The report said that Gazprom will purchase gas from Uzbekistan at the price of $253 per 1,000 cubic meters.

Inrefax recalled that Uzbekistan supplied 8.686 billion cubic meters of gas to Gazprom in 2012.

The report said Uzbekistan cut gas supplies to Russian company in mid-December, after the country decided to direct existing resources to satisfy demand of population due to cold weather. The agency said the country will not increase gas exports till the end of 2012.
