Ferghana opens trade house in Kuala Lumpur and secures investment agreements
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Uzbekistan’s Ferghana region, led by regional governor Khayrullo Bozorov, has carried out a series of high-level business meetings in Kuala Lumpur, including the official opening of a regional trade house, negotiations with one of Malaysia’s largest retail networks, and discussions at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia.
Ferghana Trade House opens in Kuala Lumpur
The opening ceremony of the Ferghana Trade House took place in premises provided by KK Group. The platform showcases agricultural and consumer goods produced in the region, building on an exhibition space that has been operating since February this year.
Governor Bozorov thanked Malaysian partners for their support in establishing the trade representative office and noted that relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia have reached a new level in recent years, with steadily expanding economic cooperation.
Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Karomiddin Gadoyev, said that bilateral relations are entering a new phase, and that practical initiatives such as the trade house help strengthen mutual trust.
KK Group CEO Kee Ken Chai highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan and noted growing business ties with Ferghana. He also emphasized strong demand in Malaysia for Ferghana fruits such as cherries, apricots, and peaches.
Talks with KK Group and investment plans
During separate discussions with KK Group representatives, the parties explored opportunities in industry, logistics, trade, and services. KK Group operates under the KK Mart brand and manages more than 1,100 retail outlets across Malaysia.
The Ferghana side presented investment opportunities in Uzbekistan, including state support measures and incentives for foreign investors.
Both sides agreed to develop joint investment projects, organize business forums and exhibitions, and establish working groups to prepare a detailed roadmap for cooperation.
Agriculture and smart farming cooperation
Another meeting was held with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, where the sides discussed cooperation in agricultural processing, smart farming technologies, and fertilizer production.
The parties agreed to continue collaboration, establish direct links between business communities, and move forward with practical joint projects.
Wider engagement with Malaysian partners
The delegation also met with the Malaysia Chinese Assembly Hall, which represents one of the largest Chinese community organizations in Malaysia. Discussions focused on expanding economic, educational, and cultural cooperation, with particular attention to investment opportunities involving thousands of entrepreneurs affiliated with the organization.
The visit marked a significant step in strengthening economic ties between Ferghana and Malaysia, with both sides committing to deepen cooperation and implement concrete joint initiatives.
