BYD vehicle registered as an industrial design in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A vehicle produced by BYD COMPANY LIMITED has been registered with the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan as an industrial design. The registration provides legal protection for the external appearance of the product as an object of industrial design.

An industrial design refers to an artistic and design solution that defines the visual appearance of a product. It is classified as an object of intellectual property and protects the aesthetic characteristics of a product rather than its technical function.

To obtain legal protection, an industrial design must meet the criteria of novelty and originality. Novelty means that the combination of its essential features must not be known from publicly available sources prior to the application date. Originality implies a unique creative character of the design.

Registration of an industrial design grants its owner exclusive rights to use the design and prohibits copying or use by third parties without the permission of the rights holder.

It is noted that applications for industrial design registration can be submitted through the official portal of the Ministry of Justice at im.adliya.uz.
