The sided discussed current state and perspective directions of cooperation in politics, trade-economic, investment, culture-humanitarian areas, as well as implementation of the EU Strategy for Central Asia, and joint programmes and projects.
It was stated that currently Uzbekistan and the European Union created firm institutional base in format of bilateral and multilateral cooperation bodies, including cooperation council and other structures.
Total trade turnover between Uzbekistan and the EU exceeded US$2.3 billion. Currently, 875 enterprises with European capital operate in such areas as automobile, pharmaceutics, oil and gas, chemistry, textile, etc.
The sides support regular dialogue with state bodies and civil society in reforming legal-judical system and liberalization of criminal legislation.
At the meeting, the sides exchanged opinion on international and regional issues.
A head of the EU Delegation in Uzbekistan, Ambassador Yuri Sterk, attended the meeting.
