Economy of Namangan region rise by 10% in 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Namangan region posted a 10% growth of gross regional product (GRP) in 2012. This was announced at the meeting of local council.

Industrial production of the region grew by 14.9%, agriculture production – 7%, construction works – 10.2%, retail trade turnover – 16.6%, and rendered services – 16.8%, UzA reported.

Share of industry in the GDP made up 9.8% and small businesses – 79%. Exports of products grew by 9.6%, while exports of ready products rose by 53.2%.

In the reporting period, the region used capital investments for 728 billion soums in 2012, which grew by 12.6% year-on-year.

About 40% of all investments were used to creation of new production capacities. In the result, the region implemented 178 investment projects in 2012.

The region said it created 75,000 new jobs in 2012, of which 81.6% in rural areas.
