Economy of Kashkadarya region grows by 4.5% in 2012
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Gross regional product of Kashkadarya region rose by 4.5% in 2012, the local council said in its session dedicated to 2012 results.

UzA reported that agriculture output increased by 7.3% in 2012, used capital investments – 26.6%, construction works – 12%, retail trade turnover – 20.5% and services – 18.5%. The region launched production of six new products.

The commercial banks issued 935.5 billion soums to real sector of economy in 2012. Share of small businesses in GRP made up 57.6%.

Mubarek Gas Processing Plant launched new capacities on production of 258,000 liquified gas and 125,000 tonnes of condensate. Shortanneftegaz installed facility on production of 50,000 tonnes of liquefied gas based on propane-butane mixture in 2012. Construction of the second line of Dehkanabad Potash Fertilizers Plant with total cost of US$250 million is underway.

In 2012, construction of plant on production of synthetic fuel based on cleaned methane was launched in the region in cooperation with South Africa’s Sasol and Malaysia’s Petronas. The project cost is US$4 billion and the plant will produce jet kerosene, liquefied gas and premium diesel fuel.

The council said that the region created 88,790 new jobs in 2012. About 870 houses on standard projects were constructed in rural areas.
