Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan in the field of agriculture is expanding

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A delegation of Uzbekistan headed by Deputy Minister of Agriculture Kakhramon Yuldashev visited the Republic of Turkmenistan, namely Ashgabat and Ahal region, where on 5-6 August 2022 a meeting was held with the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Ecology of the Republic of Turkmenistan Shohrat Annamyradov, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee for Water Resources Dovlet Mammadov, representatives of the relevant departments of the ministry and heads of system organizations of the Republic of Turkmenistan.

The purpose of the visit is to expand joint activities in the areas of agriculture and water management. Cooperation in the field of cotton growing, seed growing, horticulture, greenhouse farming, science and digitalization was discussed.

Promising directions were identified in the development of a program for testing high-yielding, early-ripening and salt-tolerant varieties of cotton; on the mutual exchange of seeds of vegetable, melon crops and the creation of new varieties; on cooperation in the field of horticulture; to train farmers and specialists from Turkmenistan at the National Center for Knowledge, Innovation and Services (AKIS).

The delegation from Uzbekistan got acquainted with the activities of enterprises in the fields of viticulture, horticulture, greenhouse farming, processing of fruits and vegetables and dairy products, animal husbandry and dairy farming in the Akhal region.

The Uzbek delegation presented to the Turkmen colleagues the project “Implementation of an automated water management system”, which was implemented by the Australian company Rubicon Water Pty. Ltd" in the Kashkadarya region, in order to further implement this experience in Turkmenistan.

In addition, during the visit, negotiations were held with the state association "Turkmen horses" and the international association of Akhal-Teke horse breeding on the development of the horse breeding industry in Uzbekistan.

An agreement was reached between the Tashkent State Agrarian University, the Samarkand State University of Veterinary Medicine, Animal Husbandry and Biotechnology and the International Association of Akhal-Teke Horse Breeding of Turkmenistan to develop a joint scientific project aimed at developing horse breeding and breeding thoroughbred (Ahal-Teke) sports horses by artificial insemination.
