CERI, Uzmetkombinat sign contract on construction of rolled wire plant
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- China’s Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited (CERI) signed a contract with Uzbek Metallurgy Combine (Uzmetkombinat) on creation of capacities on production of rolled wires.

RIA Novosti reported quoting representative of the combine that the contract was signed in the result of tender, which was announced in November 2012. The project envisages production of 8-10 mm rolled wires. The designed capacity of the plant is 100,000 tonnes a year. The project will be implemented by the end of 2014.

The project cost is US$30 million. The project will be financed due to loans of the Uzbek banks for US$22 million and own resources of the company – US$8 million.

Uzmetkombinat is only enterprise in Central Asia on production of ferrous metals from metal scraps. The combine has been launched in 1956. Earlier, the plant processed metal scraps, received from all Central Asian states.

In 2012, the enterprise increased steel output by 0.4% year-on-year in 2012 – to 736,300 tonnes. Production of ferrous metals grew by 0.1% to 710,500 tonnes.
