When children are bullied, they are planning to issue a protective order

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) - The draft law “On the protection of children from all forms of violence” has been submitted for discussion.

The draft law envisages the following forms of violence against children:

  • physical violence;
  • sexual violence;
  • psychological abuse;
  • exploitation;
  • bullying;
  • lack of care.

The following measures are provided to protect children from violence:

  • issuance of a protective order;
  • provision of legal, material, social, psychological and medical assistance;
  • strengthening and supporting families with a child affected by violence;
  • removal of a child from the parents (persons replacing them) or from one of them, other persons in whose care the child is;
  • completing programs to correct violent behavior;
  • restriction of the rights of persons who have committed sexual crimes.

The issuance of a protection order will be carried out by the National Social Protection Agency and its territorial bodies (authorized body).

The decision to issue or refuse to issue a protection order is made by the authorized body within 24 hours from the receipt of an appeal or information about violence. The protection order will be served by the internal affairs bodies.

The validity period of the protective order is 30 days.

The internal affairs body, when serving a warrant on a person who committed violence, informs him about the conditions of the protective order and warns him about the consequences of non-compliance with the requirements.

A protective order may include the following restrictions:

  • prohibition on committing violence;
  • a ban on contact between the person (also
  • on being in the same room, in the same vehicle) who committed the violence and the victim;
  • ban on purchasing and carrying weapons.
