Uzbekistan to start supplying finished leather to Hyundai, Kia, Toyota

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- During the visit of a delegation of the Uzcharmsanoat association to the Republic of Korea, a meeting was held with the JM, which supplies leather products to Uzbekistan for the automotive industry of this country.

During the meeting, the partners were provided with detailed information about the quality of the leather produced in our country, the raw material base, modern technologies used in enterprises, and the investment environment.

JM is the largest leather manufacturing company in South Korea. The products manufactured here are mainly supplied to automakers such as Hyundai, Kia and Toyota. The company's annual income is US$250 million. The US$1 billion plant is fully equipped with Italian and German technologies.

At the meeting, the management of the South Korean company emphasized that they are closely following the changes and innovations in the leather and footwear industry of Uzbekistan in recent years, so there is great interest in cooperation. Plans have been announced for the purchase of leather of the second and third processing stages (finished leather) in our country.

Also, the delegation of the association "Uzcharmsanoat" got acquainted with the production processes and the quality of products manufactured by the Korean company. In turn, JM representatives were presented with business proposals for the implementation of projects in the field of leather and footwear production on the basis of small industrial zones created in 16 regions of Uzbekistan.

The Korean side expressed an initiative to open a joint venture in the Tashkent region and export products manufactured on its basis to South Korea, namely to large companies in the automotive industry.

The JM delegation plans to visit Tashkent in April this year to conduct further negotiations with Uzbek tanneries on projects planned for implementation.

Thus, in the near future, the leather produced in Uzbekistan will be used in the interior trim of cars produced at large car factories in South Korea.
