President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On additional measures for effective implementation of the Program for construction and reconstruction of affordable apartment buildings in cities for 2017-2020” on 23 October 2017.
According to the document, Uzbekistan plans to receive the loan in two tranches of US$100 million each in 2018 and 2019.
The resolution noted that in 2018-2020, Uzbekistan intends to build 1,045 houses with 43,400 apartments. At the same time, 490 of them will be built in Tashkent, 120 in Tashkent region and 48 in Samarkand region.
For housing construction, the Government of Uzbekistan plans to attract funds from international lenders for US$1.28 billion in 2018-2020.
In particular, Uzbekistan plans to attract US$700 million from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), US$300 million from the Islamic Development Bank, US$30 million from the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAER) and US$50 million from the Saudi Development Fund (SFR).
